1. Introduction

Welcome to Cable Protect, a WireGuard VPN client application for iOS and macOS. Cable Protect is a personal hobby project developed by Anthony Francella that provides a simple, user-friendly interface for managing WireGuard VPN connections on Apple devices.

Cable Protect is built using the open-source WireGuard library and is designed with privacy as a fundamental principle. This privacy policy explains our approach to user data and privacy.

2. Information Collection and Use

2.1 Data We Do NOT Collect

Cable Protect does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
• VPN configuration data or server credentials
• Connection logs, timestamps, or duration
• IP addresses (yours or the VPN servers you connect to)
• Browsing history or internet traffic data
• Device information or identifiers
• Usage analytics or statistics
• Crash reports or diagnostic data
• Location data

2.2 Local Data Storage

Cable Protect stores your WireGuard VPN configurations locally on your device only. This data includes:

• VPN server addresses and ports
• Encryption keys (private and public keys)
• Connection settings and preferences

All configuration data is stored securely on your device using Apple's secure storage mechanisms (Keychain and secure app containers). This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to the developer or any third party.

3. Third-Party Services and Libraries

3.1 WireGuard Open-Source Library

Cable Protect is built using the open-source WireGuard library for iOS and macOS, available at https://github.com/WireGuard/wireguard-apple. This library is licensed under the MIT License and operates entirely on your device. It does not transmit any data to the WireGuard project or any third parties.

3.2 No Third-Party Services

Cable Protect does not integrate with or use any third-party services, including:

• No analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.)
• No advertising networks
• No crash reporting services
• No payment processors (the app is free)
• No social media integrations

4. User-Provided VPN Servers

Cable Protect is a client application only. It does not provide, operate, or have any control over VPN servers. Users must configure and provide their own WireGuard-compatible VPN servers.

Important: When you connect to a VPN server using Cable Protect, your internet traffic is routed through that server. The privacy and logging policies of your VPN server are determined by whoever operates that server (which may be you, your organization, or a third-party VPN service provider). Cable Protect has no visibility into or control over what data your VPN server may log or collect.

If you are concerned about privacy, we recommend:

• Operating your own VPN server with a zero-log configuration
• Carefully reviewing the privacy policy of any third-party VPN service you use
• Ensuring your VPN server is configured to not log connection data

5. Apple App Store

Cable Protect is distributed through the Apple App Store. When you download or update the app through the App Store, Apple may collect certain information according to their own privacy policy. This collection is handled entirely by Apple, not by Cable Protect.

6. Children's Privacy

Cable Protect does not collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app is suitable for users of all ages, provided they have the technical knowledge to configure WireGuard VPN connections.

7. Data Security

While Cable Protect does not collect or transmit any user data, the app stores your VPN configurations locally on your device using Apple's secure storage mechanisms:

• Private keys are stored in the iOS/macOS Keychain
• Configuration data is stored in the app's secure container
• All data is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Touch ID, Face ID)

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Since Cable Protect does not collect any contact information, we cannot notify you directly of changes. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Continued use of Cable Protect after any changes to this privacy policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

9. Your Rights

Since Cable Protect does not collect any personal data, there is no data to access, modify, or delete on our end. All your data is stored locally on your device and is under your complete control. You can:

• Delete any VPN configuration by removing it within the app
• Delete all app data by uninstalling Cable Protect from your device
• Export your configurations for backup purposes

10. International Users

Cable Protect can be used anywhere in the world. Since the app does not collect or transmit any data, there are no international data transfer concerns. All data remains on your device regardless of where you are located.

11. Open Source Transparency

Cable Protect is built on the open-source WireGuard library. The WireGuard project's source code is publicly available and can be reviewed at https://github.com/WireGuard/wireguard-apple.

13. Legal Disclaimer

Cable Protect is provided as-is for personal use. While the app itself does not collect data, the developer cannot control or be responsible for:

• The privacy practices of VPN servers you connect to
• Data collection by Apple through the App Store
• Your device's operating system data collection
• Third-party network operators or internet service providers
